Privacy Policy, and other Legal Stuff

Who we are

Our website address is: https://ysobel.ai

We are Ysobel.AI, LLC (i.e. “us”, or “we”)

We are a company that provides a local AI search/analysis app. Our app (referred to as “Ysobel” or “Ysobel.AI”) runs on your own local devices.

When we refer to “you”, we mean you, as a customer, or as a visitor on our website.

The Short of it (The TL;DR; version 🙂

Our app does not report (or log) any details of your activity to anyone, including us!

Any data generated with a properly licensed app instance is owned by the customer.

Similarly, You own (and are responsible for) the content of your posts on our website.

We will never knowingly divulge (or sell, or otherwise “leak”) personally identifying information, unless compelled by law.

In all cases, we take our user/customer’s privacy very seriously. We only keep the minimum amount of personal information for the proper function of our website and our app.

Ysobel.AI App Privacy Policy

Our app runs purely in your local machine. We do not collect any logs, other than the minimum required to verify that the license we grant to you is in good standing, and that it is activated once per machine. Ysobel.AI App does not communicate the content of your documents, emails or any other content (generated by Ysobel or not) to any outside party, including us.

Internal database records kept by the App are used only for performing the queries and actions you execute. They are kept on your local disk, and are never sent to others, including us.

Ysobel.AI License Policy

A single user license is associated with a single machine. We collect a cryptographic hash of your machine details for verification purposes. You may install a single instance of our app on one physical machine at a time. As such, please refrain from installing Ysobel on a shared drive (e.g. Windows Shares, DropBox, iCloud Drive, OneDrive, NFS, etc..)

You can move your installation to a different machine by executing the “Export Data And Uninstall” function from the “Settings” tab, after which, Ysobel.AI will be automatically uninstalled from your machine. You can then re-install the app (and recover your database) by choosing the “Import Data” function from the Settings tab.

Customer Data and Refund Policy

If you are customer of ours, we only collect enough information to process the payment. After a period (30 days), we delete any payment logs. We also only keep the details of your payment method (e.g. Credit Card) on our system for no longer than 30 days, which happily coincide with our refund policy for your purchase. You have 30 days to request a refund of your purchase. After this period, we will not respond to requests for refund! (Because we can’t!) The only thing we record permanently is your username, email address, and your status as either a customer or a poster (or both!) in good standing.

Any data generated with a properly licensed App instance is owned by the customer (i.e. the Licensee).

(If you are using some one else’s license, you’ll need to negotiate with the actual customer if you think you have generated something worthy of legal protection 🙂

Comments

When visitors (or customers) leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

You are responsible for the content of any posts you make on our website. We will remove harmful or malicious content, solely at our discretion.

We love and support the first amendment. We also desire decorum and to inspire public trust for our forums, the posters, and the posts themselves. These two goals are forever at odds, and no policy will cover all cases. As such, please extend to us (and your fellow posters) some grace and forgiveness. Simply put, please try hard to be polite and avoid insulting other posters. The written word can always appear harsher than you intend.

We will attempt to do the bare minimum of content moderation. Any break in trust by you will eventually result in you being blocked, at our discretion.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture (if you provide one) is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

We reserve no intellectual property rights on the content of your posts

Feel free to leave original poems, songs, i.e. whatever fits your fancy. They will remain being owned by you, regardless of whether you request its removal or not.

In other words, you own the content of your posts. You are responsible for the content of your posts. From start to end. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Please do try to avoid plagiarizing others without proper attribution. It’s poor form, and not great for your reputation.

We will never sell or otherwise knowingly divulge your personal data (or other identifying information) to third parties.

Only exception would be if we were compelled by a proper legal authority.

However, ….

We take your privacy very seriously

We periodically purge identifying markers from your posts, (e.g. IP address, exact time of day, browser agent string, etc…) The exact time and frequency of such “cleanup” operations is solely within our discretion, but no shorter than 30 days from the time of the post’s creation.

In other words, after a period of time, only identifying information about the post would be its contents, the username of the poster, and the rough time-of-day of the post’s creation. The user’s email address would only be revealed if we are compelled by law.

We do this to enhance privacy for our users/posters while allowing timely and proper investigation of any alleged criminal activity by the proper authorities.

Media

Any media files (images, videos) you upload as part of your post will be stripped of all metadata (where feasible), which would nominally include any GPS/location data. However, we can not guarantee that this process is foolproof. So please take care not to expose any private details in the files you upload. We take no responsibility for your post nor its contents. The ultimate responsibility for protecting your privacy lies with you.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you, may opt-in to saving your username, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Policy on first-time posters.

First time posters must go through a period of enforced moderation period, determined solely by our discretion. We do not allow embedding of external content, nor URLs to such, for first time posters.

Once you gain some trust with us that you are not a spammer or some other nefarious entity who wish to us harm, then we’ll automatically upgrade your account to allow posting whatever you wish.

Please remember that you are responsible for your posts. We reserve the right to remove, edit, or entirely block a message, thread, or (in the worst cases) the poster, solely at our discretion.

We will either allow, or deny your first-time posts during normal business hours. In other words, if you are new poster, in a hurry to see your post activated, please try to avoid posting during non-business hours.

If you are a customer in good standing, you are provisionally exempt from this first-time-required-moderation rule.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments by you automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users and customers that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Banned content/topics

Please avoid posting personal identifying information (e.g. email address, phone number, physical address, etc..) for either yourself or others.

Please avoid posting sexually explicit material, in any form. Ysobel does not like it. This includes any solicitations or offers for such material or related activities, whether or not they are generated by an AI.

In other words, please avoid posting any material that is illegal in your jurisdiction, or ours.

Prohibited Activity by You.

You must be a human adult, of legal age, to be a customer or a poster.

Fully automated posting via an AI (including Ysobel!) is not allowed. In other words, every action, either on the website or on the app must be initiated by a human adult of legal age.
Any posts generated by an AI, even if initiated by a customer of good standing, must be marked as such on the website.

Installing Ysobel.AI onto a virtual machine is not allowed, nor supported.

You may not install Ysobel.AI onto a “cloud computing node.” (e.g. AWS Compute, Google Compute, Azure Cloud, etc..)

You may not resell access to Ysobel.AI under any circumstances.
You may not bypass the app’s GUI under any circumstances.

You may not reverse engineer the activities or database of Ysobel.AI.
Ysobel.AI’s operational methods are trade secret. We will vigorously defend our intellectual property to the fullest extent of the law.

We reserve the right to enforce these rules at any time, at our discretion.

No Warrantee!

While we do our best to ensure that our website and app function properly, we can not guarantee correctness, usefulness, or proper functioning of either the website or the app for any purpose, either implied or stated.

Unfortunately, Ysobel sometimes does hallucinate. This is an unavoidable consequence of various random number generators that are routinely (and necessarily) used during the operation of the AI engine.

As such, the customer is ultimately responsible for verifying the fitness of any and all generated data for any and all purposes, real or imaginary.
